Pigeons & Doves (Columbiformes)
Pigeons and Doves are fast-flying birds with pointed wings and weak bills which feed on seeds and fruit. There is only one family, the Columbidae, and within it around 300 species. There size ranges from as small as 6 inches to as large as 4 feet in length. They are found worldwide except in the extreme north.
On this page you will find only the families and species which may be observed in and around the area of Harmon Park. Species which have been verifiably observed on the grounds of the Park are indicated with this symbol:
