Chicken-like Birds (Galliformes)
Birds within the order Galliformes may be either terrestrial or arboreal. Within 5 families, the order includes around 290 species ranging in length from 6 inches to 6.5 feet. They have strong, scratching feet, short rounded wings, and feathers with long aftershafts. Galliformes are found everywhere except southern South America.
