The Team

Loren Harmon
CEO & Executive Director
Loren has devoted her adult life to being a positive force in the world. She holds advanced degrees in education and counseling with an undergrad in Accounting and pre-law. Professionally, she has worked with struggling and at-risk children and families in schools, foster homes, group homes, and DHR and family court. The bulk of Loren's career efforts have been in the nonprofit sector and unpaid, as service to others has been her life's ambition. She's always been passionate about animal and environmental welfare as well and has been involved in pet and wildlife rescue work since early adulthood. Her fight on behalf of our planetary health began in her early teens when she had her first op-ed published in the Shelby County Reporter on rainforest degradation. Harmon Park is the culmination of her life's work and represents her passionate dedication to people, wildlife, and ecology.

James Harmon, CPA
CFO & Director of Finance
James has called the City of Columbiana home since birth, except for a handful of years after wedding Loren in 1996 when the couple resided in Montevallo, Calera, Helena, and Pensacola before returning to his home town in 2004. He has worked in Public Accounting since 1998 and started his own firm in 2008. It has been a roller-coaster journey through the years with some very challenging times, but today, Harmon & Associates is a successful moderately-sized firm located in Pelham, AL (with a satellite office in Sumiton) with many employees. James embraces diversity in his staff and strives to enable his employees to prioritize their own families just as he has done throughout his years as a devoted husband and father. He shares his wife's love for animals, both wild and domestic, and is especially passionate about dogs and sharks. James looks forward to the day when he can pass the firm's reigns off to his successors and enjoy a slower pace in life.

Cole Harmon
Stewardship Officer & Director of Conservation
Cole lived his earliest years in Pensacola where most days were spent at the beach or along the sound, finding horseshoe crabs amongst the Mangroves, examining hermit crabs, collecting empty seashells, and watching the cownose rays dart through the waves. His mom taught him about the animals and ecology and frequently took him and his older brother to the Gulf Breeze Zoo, the Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Gulfarium. When the family returned to Columbiana in 2004, the Birmingham, Montgomery, and Atlanta Zoos, the Atlanta and Chattanooga Aquariums, and the area's many State Parks became their oft-visited haunts. Cole was a precocious Boy Scout, as he tagged along with his older brother to meetings and on outings through the years. Both boys achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. In addition to his parents and brother, Cole was heavily influenced by his uncle growing up. Uncle Scott, like his sister (Loren), has been a lifetime lover of all things 'Nature.' Through Scott and other early life influencers, Cole developed special knowledge of and affinities for the wilderness, foraging, beekeeping, snakes, and forging. In 2023, Cole enrolled in the Bridge program at the Amphibian Foundation in Atlanta where he earned various certifications, such as 'Venomous Snake Handling,' and 'Master of Herpetology.'
Jacob Dunham
